I'm writing this blog from my hotel room in Las Vegas, but I won't post it until I get back to Tennessee...we don't have internet connection.
We're staying at Hooters.
You read that correctly.
It was borderline laugh out loud funny walking into our room tonight, actually. Because I just had one of the most amazing nights of my life, surrounded by all my idols and fancy dresses, and now I'm sitting on top of the most hideous orange and green comforter I've ever seen at the Hooters Hotel and Casino.
3 nights for the price of ONE at the MGM Grand, guys. This is how we roll.
Point is, the world always finds a way to humble you ;) It's awesome.
But I did promise to post a narcissistic and overly detailed blog following my first ACMs, so here goes:
Earlier in the weekend, I got to hang out with some of my favorite people...shout out time: Jerry & everyone from KUZZ (plus little Waylon, cutest little kid you'll ever meet), the Driver's Edge group (look it up, it's really cool), Pete Fisher who is responsible for one of the highlights of my life...playing the Opry, and lunch with Chuck Wicks, his agent, Barry, and his friend Taylor, who are all adorable and so much fun.
Now for the big day.
I walked outside the MGM this afternoon where they were setting up the orange carpet, and I saw some familiar faces waiting in line which was really cool. We found out that some of the people had been waiting since 7 in the morning, which is extremely impressive and has dedication written all over it. So we left for a while, and then decided to come back. Only this time I brought my guitar.
They looked tired. And bored. And 7 is really early in the morning.
I hoped that an impromptu mini-show would help out, so I played a few songs, passed out cards, signed some autographs, and met a whole bunch of cool people that I didn't know before. So even then I decided it was a successful day.
While getting ready for the show, my high heels were taunting me from the closet and I was mentally preparing myself for the trek to the MGM.
On the way there, I was hanging on for dear life to my mom and Frank Rogers' arms. I only tripped once.
(My first time in heels, by the way, so that's pretty impressive.)
I couldn't believe that I was there during the award show. (Insert GIGANTIC thank you to John Alexander for bringing mom and I. It was so awesome to hang out with you and Patrick.)
I personally thought the show was fantastic. There wasn't one performance that didn't impress me.
I had to skip the last 10 minutes in order to run over and change before the All Star Jam (because I couldn't handle the heels any longer...). I played two songs there (Infinite X's and O's & I'm Not Blind), and It was really surreal, considering Gloriana was watching from backstage and Lady Antebellum was playing there a couple hours later.
It was pretty much unbelievable to see all the superstar faces walking around.
From there, we went to the Sony after party. And Sony certainly had a reason to celebrate that night, considering the amazing amount of awards they got. The perfect farewell to Joe Galante, who is responsible for so many careers. Not to mention he gave me my record deal, so we're going to miss him.
But anyway, enough of the sad stuff.
I stood next to Matthew McConaughey for a good 5 minutes. No, I never worked up the nerve to say anything to him.
I was trying to tweet about it but I had no idea how to spell his name. So I'm asking everyone around me, and none of them know. Finally I just handed my phone to my manager to spell it...and come to find out, he butchered it too. I should've just asked Matthew. But that might be rude.
I also got to take my first ever Sony staff picture. Fo realz. It was so cool.
The artists that were there were Carrie, Miranda, Kenny, Brad, Chris Young, Montgomery Gentry, Jerrod Neimann, Jake Owen, and Danny Gokey.
I was trying to keep my game face on. AKA my I-belong-here-and-I'm-not-a-starstruck-16-year-old-I-promise face.
It was more difficult than I can explain.
But I think I did okay.
Now, I'm at Hooters.
Is it just me that's laughing at that???
I'll never forget this weekend.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? No, not right. I'm taking every single minute back home with me.
I love you guys. Wish I could've seen all of you there. Maybe next time.
Infinite x's and o's,
Jordyn
