Well well well, we meet again...
That being said, I am so incredibly sorry that I've been neglecting myspace and all that jazz. Life is crazy. But that's not an excuse. I'm sorry.
Anyway, there are two new videos up on the EP Club :) Both of which are accessible at
jordynshellhart.com.
And it's free to join. And you get to watch stuff. And you get to download stuff. Worktapes, to be exact...the kind that I record in my laptop immediately after writing a song. GREAT quality. (Incase you can't sense the sarcasm there, I'm telling you: that was sarcastic.)
The two new videos are of me singing "Breakable As You", which you've probably heard if you have the album, and "I'm Not Blind", which you haven't heard.
I wrote it really recently, and that was one of the first times I'd ever played it out.
I was watching Rhianna's 20/20 interview about Chris Brown and that whole fiasco, and it inspired me so much. She was so strong and poised, and it really touched me. At one point, she was asked, "was it hard to leave him?" And Rhianna said something like, "Yes, because love is so blind. But you have to take hold of your own life."
And I freaked out, ran upstairs to my piano, abandoned washing dishes (which my mother didn't like), and wrote that song.
Because I've been there too. (No song pun intended.)
When your heart is telling you something but your brain is telling you another, it takes everything you have to listen to logic. She did it. We've all done it. Everyone has had to overcome feelings to do what makes sense.
So THAT is what "I'm Not Blind" is about. Sure, it's about Rhianna and Chris Brown. But it's about me. And it's probably about you, too.
Other than that, we are in the midst of getting ready for midterms at school (boooo), so that has been consuming everything in my life and I'm literally counting down the days to Christmas break...and Christmas in general. It's cold. There are decorations everywhere, and Mix 92.9 is constantly playing Christmas music.
But it's hard to get over-saturated by CHRISTMAS!!!
:D
Hope you're all having a great holiday season so far, and please please please let me know if you like the new videos!
Infinite x's and o's,
Jordyn
Oh, and people keep asking me what all the songs are about. I'm thinking about posting a blog with all the stories behind the songs. What do you think??
Thanks guys.
